China: Producer Prices for the Industrial Sector for August 2011

In August 2011, Producer Price Index (PPI) for manufactured goods rose by 0.1 percent over last month, and increased 7.3 percent year-on-year. The purchasing price index for manufactured goods rose 0.2 percent over last month, and soared 10.6 percent year-on-year. From January to August 2011, the year-on-year PPI increased 7.1 percent, and the purchasing price index for manufactured goods surged 10.4 percent.

The month-on-month change of producer prices for means of production climbed 0.1 percent. In which, producer prices for mining and quarrying industry increased 0.8 percent; that of raw materials industry grew to 0.2 percent, that of machining industry declined 0.1 percent. Producer prices for means of consumer goods grew 0.2 percent over the previous month. Of which, producer prices for foodstuff increased 0.4 percent ; that of clothing and commodities rose 0.3 percent simultaneously, while that of durable consumer goods remained the same level.

The year-on-year change of producer prices for means of production increased 8.0 percent. Of the total, producer prices for mining and quarrying industry increased 18.8 percent; that of raw materials industry and machining industry correspondingly up by 11.6 percent and 5.4 percent. Producer prices for means of consumer goods grew 4.8 percent. Of which, producer prices for foodstuff increased 8.3 percent; that of clothing and commodities rose 4.6 percent and 4.7 percent, while that of durable consumer goods dropped 0.3 percent.

The month-on-month purchaser price indexes for non-ferrous metals remained general level month-on-month, that of fuel and power increased 0.1 percent, that of ferrous metals jumped 0.4 percent, and that of chemical raw material expanded 0.3 percent.

The year-on-year purchaser price indexes for non-ferrous metals increased 16.8 percent, that of fuel and power, ferrous metals and chemical raw material respectively rose 12.7, 9.9 and 13.4 percent.
