China: National Business Climate Index Kept Growing in the Third Quarter 2010

Business Climate Survey results of NBS in whole country showed that the national business climate index (BCI) was 137.9 in the third quarter of 2010, booming up by 2.0 points over previous quarter.

The BCIs of various industries continuous ballooned in the business climate zone. In the third quarter, the BCI of industry stood at 134.7, increased 1.1 points quarter-on-quarter, the BCIs in 39 major categories was all located in the business climate zone for four consecutive quarters. Of the total, the BCIs of construction, transport storage and postal services, wholesale and retail sale, real estate, social services*, hotel and catering services gained 147.5, 134.2, 150.2, 131.7, 137.7 and 130.1, respectively, which grew 5.1, 2.4, 4.9, 4.4, 3.0 and 1.3 points from previous quarter. The BCI of information transmission, computer services, and software industry remained the same level comparing with second quarter.

The BCIs of various types of enterprises of registration kept surging in the business climate zone for the fifth consecutive quarters. Of which, the BCIs of collective enterprises, cooperative enterprises, limited liability company, enterprises invested from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, and foreign funded enterprises respectively was 116.7, 118.8, 134.0, 141.9 and 149.6; promoted 9.3, 2.3, 2.5, 1.8 and 6.4 points. The BCIs of share-holding, private enterprises was 146.3 and 121.6, remained the same level comparing with second quarter. BCI of state-owned enterprises stood at 134.2, fell 1.3 points over previous quarter.

The BCIs of medium and small sized enterprises respectively reached 137.0 and 119.7, 1.7 and 4.1 points higher over second quarter. The BCI of large enterprises was 160.2, fell 1.7 points quarter-on-quarter.

The BCIs of eastern, central and western regions continued promoting, respectively stood at 140.1, 137.4 and 134.2, increased 2.0, 1.4 and 2.9 points quarter-on-quarter.

The BCIs of national pilot and state-owned holding enterprises have increased steadily, got 154.3 and 139.4, remained the same level over last quarter; that of State key enterprises and listed company dipped over last quarter.

*Social services in Business Climate Survey was including leasing and business services, environment and public facilities management industry, residents services and other services, not including information transmission, computer services and software industry, accommodation and catering industry.
