China: National Business Climate Index Kept Growing in the First Quarter of 2011

Business Climate Survey results of NBS in whole country showed that the national business climate index (BCI) was 133.8 in the first quarter of 2011, fell 4.2 points over previous quarter.

The BCI of wholesale and retail trade was 153.2, 3.6 points higher than previous quarter. The BCI of social services reached 135.6, increased 3.6 points quarter-on-quarter. The BCIs of transport, storage and postal services, hotel and catering services gained 127.8 and 124.1, remained the same level. The BCIs of information transmission, computer services and software industry was 150.4, fell 9.3 points from previous quarter. The BCI of industry stood at 130.9, fell 4.4 points, that of construction was 135.3, fell 13.1 points.

The BCIs of various types of enterprises of registration kept surging in the business climate zone. In the first quarter, the BCIs of share-holding enterprises, enterprises invested from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, and private enterprises respectively stood at 147.1, 133.7 and 124.6, remained the same level with previous quarter. The BCIs of foreign funded enterprises, state-owned enterprises, limited liability companies, cooperative enterprises and collective enterprises reached 139.2, 132.6, 129.2, 116.5 and 110.0 respectively.

The BCIs of large, medium and small sized enterprises respectively reached 157.2, 133.5 and 114.4, dropped 6.2, 4.6 and 2.0 points quarter-on-quarter.

The BCI of central regions was 137.2, remained the same level. The BCIs of eastern, and western regions stood at 134.2 and 130.0, both fell 5.1 points quarter-on-quarter.

The BCIs of listed companies, state key enterprises, national pilot enterprises continuously kept in the business climate zone, respectively reached 152.8, 151.2 and 143.1. The BCI of state-owned holding enterprises was 136.9, fell 4.7 points over last quarter.
