China: National Business Climate Index Kept Booming up in the Second Quarter of 2010

Business Climate Survey results of NBS in whole country showed that the national business climate index (BCI) was 135.9 in the second quarter of 2010, booming up by 3.0 points quarter-on-quarter.

The BCIs of various industries continuous ballooned in the business climate zone. In the second quarter, the BCI of industry stood at 133.6, increased 3.5 points quarter-on-quarter, the BCIs in 39 major categories was all located in the business climate zone. Of the total, the BCIs of construction, transport storage and postal industry, social services, information transmission, computer services, and software industry, and accommodation and catering industry stood at 142.4, 131.8, 134.7, 151.3 and 128.8, promoted 8.8, 1.1, 3.9, 1.6 and 6.5 points; that of wholesale and retail trade was 145.3, dipped quarter-on-quarter but still located at a high level; the BCI of real-estate industry stood at 127.3, decreased 8.5 points over last quarter.

The BCIs of various types of enterprises of registration kept surging in the business climate zone for the four consecutive quarters. Of which, the BCIs of state-owned enterprises, joint-stock cooperative, limited liability company, Co. Ltd., share-holding limited corporation, enterprises with funds from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, and foreign funded enterprises respectively was 135.5, 116.5, 131.5, 147.1, 140.1 and 143.2, promoted 5.1, 3.6, 2.3, 3.5, 8.5 and 1.8 points; that of collective enterprise and private enterprises was 107.4 and 121.4 respectively, both fell 5.0 points quarter-on-quarter.

The BCI of large, medium and small sized enterprises continued promoting. The BCIs of large, medium and small sized enterprises was respectively 161.9, 135.3 and 115.6, up 3.3, 3.0 and 1.8 points quarter-on-quarter.

The BCIs of eastern, central and western regions was promoting level by level, respectively stood at 138.1, 136.0 and 131.3, increased 4.1, 2.3 and 1.6 points quarter-on-quarter.

The BCIs of State key enterprises and listed companies have increased steadily. The BCIs of State key enterprises and listed companies was 157.6 and 156.4, increased a little over last quarter; that of state-owned holding enterprises was 138.9, upgraded 3.4 points; while that of national pilot enterprises was 154.9, dipped over last quarter.

*Social services in Business Climate Survey was including leasing and business services, environment and public facilities management industry, residents services and other services, not including information transmission, computer services and software industry, accommodation and catering industry.
