China: National Business Climate Index Kept Booming up in the Fourth Quarter of 2009

Business Climate Survey results of NBS in whole country showed that the national business climate index (BCI) was 130.6 in the fourth quarter of 2009, booming up by 6.2 points quarter-on-quarter.

The BCIs of various industries ballooned in the business climate zone for three consecutive quarters. In the fourth quarter, the BCI of industry stood at 128.1, increased 7.6 points quarter-on-quarter, the BCIs in 39 major categories was all located in the business climate zone in the first time since 2008. Of the total, the BCIs of construction, wholesale and retail trade, real-estate industry, information transmission, computer services, and software industry, and accommodation and catering industry stood at 140.5, 141.4, 133.6, 153.5 and 121.6 respectively, promoted 6.0, 5.4, 7.3, 1.7 and 6.5 points; that of transport storage and postal industry was 117.8, remained the general level over previous quarter; that of social services* was 119.0, dipped quarter-on-quarter.

The BCIs of various types of enterprises of registration kept surging in the business climate zone for two consecutive quarters, and came up obviously quarter-on-quarter. Of which, the BCIs of state-owned enterprises, collective enterprise, joint-stock cooperative enterprises, limited liability company, Co. Ltd., private enterprises, and foreign funded enterprises, and enterprises with funds from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan respectively was 127.3, 109.8, 123.7, 128.4, 137.4, 119.6 and 134.8 respectively, increased 2-13 points quarter-on-quarter.

The BCI of large sized enterprises continued promoting. The BCIs of large sized enterprises was 150.7, up 2.6 points quarter-on-quarter; that of medium sized enterprises was 131.2, promoted 7.9 points; that of small sized enterprises was 112.8, picked up 5.7 points.

The BCIs of eastern, central and western regions was 132.2, 130.2 and 128.2, increased 7.9, 5.7 and 3.7 points.

State key enterprises, state-owned holding enterprises have increased steadily. In the fourth quarter, the BCIs of State key enterprises, state-owned holding enterprises 149.5 and 131.2, ballooned 4.3 and 5.0 points quarter-on-quarter; that of members of national pilot enterprises was 141.8, upgraded 2.7 points; that of listed companies was 144.6, kept general level over previous quarter.
