China: Entrepreneur Confidence Index Went up in the Fourth Quarter 2010

The results of nationwide survey showed that entrepreneur confidence index (ECI) gained 137.0 in the fourth quarter, 1.1 points higher over previous quarter.

The ECI of information transmission and computer services and software industry grew fast, which gained 163.2 in the fourth quarter, the ECIs of industry, construction reached 134.5 and 146.3; the ECIs of wholesale and retail trade, transport, storage and postal services, real estate, hotel and catering services remained the same level as compared with last quarter; while ECI of social services decreased slightly over previous quarter.

The majority of entrepreneurs’ confidence of registered enterprises went up. The ECIs of state-owned enterprises, cooperative enterprises, limited liability corporations, share-holding enterprises, private Enterprises, foreign funded enterprises respectively reached 135.3, 122.9, 133.7, 143.5, 126.1 and 144.3. ECIs of collective enterprises, enterprises invested by Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan dropped from the third quarter.

ECIs of large and medium sized enterprises promoted. In the fourth quarter, the ECIs of large and medium sized enterprises stood at 155.7 and 136.8, which increased from the previous quarter; while the ECI of small sized enterprise was 120.1, decreased slightly from the third quarter.

The ECIs of eastern, central and western regions got an overall promotion, stood at 136.3, 139.1 and 135.4, respectively.
