Average Wage of On-Duty Staff and Workers in Urban Units Went up in the First Quarter 2009

In the first quarter, the average wage of on-duty staff and workers in urban units reached 7,399 yuan, surged 875 yuan over same period of previous year which stood at 6,524 yuan, a year-on-year increase of 13.4 percent, or 4.9 percentage points dropped over previous first quarter which with an increase of 18.3 percent.


In terms of different industry sectors, the average wage of top three sectors are: financial industry stood at 16,048 yuan, information transmission, computer services and software industry accounted for 13,972 yuan, scientific research, technical services and geological prospecting industry hit 11,604 yuan. The reciprocal threes are: construction industry totaled 5,109 yuan, accommodation and catering services industry valued at 5,125 yuan, management of water conservancy, environment and public facilities stood at 5,855 yuan. The descending ratio of average wage between industry sectors is 3.1:1.

The growth rate of average wage in different industry sectors declined obviously over the first quarter of previous year. Of which, residents services and other services increased 4.4 percent, dropped 15.7 percentage points over the previous first quarter which stood at 20.1 percent; manufacturing industry grew by 8.2 percent, declined 10.6 percentage points over the previous first quarter which reached 18.8 percent; financial industry rose 19.9 percent, fell 10.4 percentage pints over the previous first quarter which topped 30.3 percent.
